Frequently asked questions

Can the feed voltage and current on the Central Office Line Simulator 7280 be higher than 72V DC and 72mA?

Yes, we offer now a hardware option E 702 enabling model 7280 to generate up to 105V DC and 105mA.

Can any of the instruments generate and measure 12/16kHz meter/charge pulses used for payphones?

Yes, the Central Office Line Simulator 7280 can generate meter/charge pulses up to 18kHz.

Telephone Line Monitor 5120 and Terminal Equipment Simulator  5620 can both measure meter/charge pulses up to 20kHz.

Do you have an instrument, which can decode the BT version of Caller ID, i.e. line reversal, message, then 1st ring, and displaying the information on a standalone PC?

Yes, our Telephone Line Monitor 5120 will meet your requirement.

Can you do calibration of Dial Pulse & DTMF Tester 210?

Yes, we can do calibration of model 210.

Can any instrument detect and analyse a SMS signal?

Terminal Equipment Simulator 5620 detect a SMS message, but does not interpret the data as an SMS message.  Rather it only sees it as FSK data bytes.  It performs physical layer measurements and displays the raw data bytes.

Telephone Line Monitor 5120 also detects the FSK transmissions just like the AI-5620.  However it can decode the byte data according to the ETSI SMS standards (protocol 1 and 2).  It then combines all of the FSK transmissions into a single report.

Both instruments report the same FSK byte data.  The primary difference is that the AI-5120 can further decode the byte data into a more human readable form.
